Timelabs Ltd takes your privacy very seriously. NewsNinja does not sell or rent your data, and anonymous information is only collected to help make the app better. If you want a privacy-first app, NewsNinja is a very safe bet.

Timelabs Ltd (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the website and the NewsNinja mobile application (the “Service”).

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.

Information Collection And Use

We collect different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

Types of Data Collected

Usage Data

This Usage Data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, your mobile operating system and other diagnostic data.

Personal Data

We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the Service. We do not collect your name, email address, or other personally identifiable information on our servers.

If you choose to connect an email account (see “Email Accounts” below), your email address, account settings, and messages are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account, never on our servers.

Use of Data

Timelabs Ltd uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To provide customer care and support
  • To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Service
  • To monitor the usage of the Service
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues

Analytics

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service.

Mixpanel

We use Mixpanel for product analytics to understand how users interact with the Service.

Mixpanel is an analytics service provided by Mixpanel Inc. Mixpanel collects pseudonymous usage data, linked to a random identifier generated by the app and processed on Mixpanel’s EU servers, such as events, app settings, device type, and operating system to help us understand feature usage and improve the app experience. Analytics never include the contents of articles you read, the contents of your emails, your email address, or your email account settings.

Subscriptions

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, provided by RevenueCat Inc., to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives purchase information from Apple linked to an anonymous app identifier. For more information, please visit the RevenueCat Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

AI Features

NewsNinja offers optional AI features such as summaries, translations, and news overviews. When you use a cloud AI feature, the text being processed (for example, an article’s text or link) is sent to our server and passed to third-party AI model providers through OpenRouter to generate the result. We do not use this content to identify you, and we do not store it alongside any personal information. Some features can instead run entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence and Apple’s Translation framework, in which case no content leaves your device.

Email Accounts

NewsNinja can optionally show the inbox of an email account you connect, either a Gmail account (via Google sign-in) or another provider (via IMAP). Email access is read-only: NewsNinja only reads your inbox and never sends, deletes, moves, labels, or otherwise modifies your messages, and it does not mark messages as read on your mail server.

  • Where your email is stored: messages are downloaded directly from your email provider to your device and stored there in encrypted form, excluded from device backups. Emails are not uploaded to our servers.
  • Credentials: passwords and sign-in tokens are stored only in your device’s Keychain and are never synced or sent to us.
  • iCloud sync: only non-secret account settings (such as the account name, email address, and server settings) sync through your personal iCloud account, so the account appears on your other devices. You must sign in again on each device.
  • Images: remote images in emails are blocked by default to limit tracking, unless you choose to load them.
  • AI on emails: summaries and translations of emails are optional and controlled in Settings > Email (Ask each time, Allow, or Never; the default is to ask for every message). For non-Gmail accounts using cloud AI, only the subject and body text of the message you choose are sent to our server and AI providers to produce the result; sender and recipient headers, attachments, and image links are not sent. These requests are not stored by our server. Gmail messages are only ever processed on your device.
  • Removing an account: disconnecting or removing an account deletes its credentials and stored messages from your device. Removing an account also removes its settings from iCloud.

Google User Data

When you connect a Gmail account, NewsNinja requests read-only access to your Gmail (the gmail.readonly scope) and your Google account email address. We use this data only to display your Gmail inbox and messages inside the app and to provide on-device summaries and translations when you request them.

  • Gmail data is accessed directly from Google by the app on your device and stays on your device. It is never transmitted to, stored on, or processed by our servers or any third-party AI provider.
  • We do not sell Google user data, share or transfer it to third parties, use it for advertising, or use it to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models.
  • No human at Timelabs Ltd can read your Gmail data.
  • You can revoke NewsNinja’s access at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Removing the account in NewsNinja deletes all Gmail data stored on your device.

NewsNinja’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

iCloud

The Service uses Apple’s iCloud to sync your feeds, preferences, starred items, reading progress, and email account settings (never passwords, sign-in tokens, or messages) across your Apple devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy: apple.com/legal/privacy. We do not have access to your iCloud account or its contents. You can manage or disable iCloud sync at any time through your device’s Settings.

Data Retention

Email messages are stored only on your device and are deleted when you remove the account or delete the app. We retain Usage Data for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

Data Security

The security of your data is important to us. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Your Data Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Right of access — You have the right to request information about the data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure — You have the right to request that we delete any anonymized data associated with your device.
  • Right to object — You have the right to object to our processing of your data.
  • Right to restriction — You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your data.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top.
